What Chinese cars offer today

China is now the world's leading car exporter. See how investment in batteries, software and design is changing the market and what it means for buyers in Bulgaria.
From manufacturing scale to original technology
In 2023, China overtook Japan to become the world's largest exporter of cars. That change was not driven by production volume alone. Chinese companies invested consistently in batteries, electric powertrains, software and their own design centres.
The results now appear across the market, from compact city cars to executive saloons and specialist off-road models. Competition is no longer based only on price. Standard equipment, the pace of electric-vehicle development and the ability to offer several powertrain types have become equally important.
What this means for the buyer
A car's country of origin is not enough to judge it by. Buyers should also ask who represents the marque, what the warranty covers, where the car will be serviced and whether genuine parts and trained technicians are available. Those practical questions matter long after delivery day.
Dongfeng is one of China's largest automotive groups and has decades of manufacturing experience. Hongqi dates back to 1958, while MHERO shows how the same industry is entering the specialist plug-in hybrid off-road segment. The three marques serve different needs, each with a clear place in the range.
A test drive is still the best comparison
At the Sallina showroom, you can compare city cars, family SUVs, saloons and the MHERO 817 in one visit. Inspect the materials, multimedia controls, cabin space and finish rather than relying only on photographs or general assumptions about where a car was built.
Then choose two or three models for a test drive. Our team will explain the differences between the powertrains, warranty terms and servicing requirements and prepare a written offer for the vehicle that best fits your needs.
